Nico Rosberg
About Nico Rosberg
Nico Rosberg was born in Wiesbaden in 1985 as the son of the Finnish Formula 1™ World Champion Keke Rosberg and the German Gesine Rosberg. He grew up in Monaco and attended international school there.
He made a career in motorsport at a young age and entered Formula 1™ in 2006, driving for Williams F1 and later Mercedes AMG Petronas. In his eleven-year career in the premier class of motorsport, Nico Rosberg took 23 Grand Prix victories and 30 pole positions. In 2016, he won the world championship with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team. Five days after winning the title, he announced his retirement as an active driver to pursue a completely new career.
Since the end of his career as an active racing driver, Nico Rosberg has been involved in sustainable mobility and green technologies as an entrepreneur and investor. Rosberg is invested in numerous alternative mobility start-ups such as Lilium, Volocopter, What3Words, and Tier. He is also an investor and shareholder in the all-electric racing series Formula E. As an investor, Nico Rosberg is also part of the cast of the VOX show "Die Höhle der Löwen", where he focuses on finding promising new start-ups in the field of sustainability. In 2019, Nico Rosberg founded the GREENTECH FESTIVAL, a global platform for innovative green technologies, ideas and products that takes place annually in Berlin and, from 2022, also in London, New York and Singapore. With around 200 exhibitors and 13,000 visitors, the festival is one of the largest sustainability events in Europe. Rosberg is also the founder and CEO of Rosberg X Racing, which competes in Extreme E - a racing series that highlights the impact of climate change and promotes the adoption of electric vehicles in the quest for a lower-carbon future. The racing team won the inaugural Extreme E season in 2021 in commanding fashion and is also currently leading the championship standings.
Nico Rosberg's motivation as an entrepreneur is driven by a desire to drive positive change for society and humanity. He pursues this approach not only in his business activities, but also as an ambassador for sustainable change for partners such as EnBW, Continental and Jungheinrich.
Rosberg has received numerous awards for his commitment to sustainable change, including the 2018 GreenTec Entrepreneur of the Year award, the 2020 "Aufbruch Award" and the 2021 "European Culture Award" for the environment. He speaks five languages fluently and lives in Monaco and Ibiza with his wife Vivian and daughters Alaïa and Naila.
The fashion students and design supporters of Nico Rosberg
Sarah Kehr
Hey there! I am Sarah, 27 years old and a professional tailor. After my apprenticeship I decided to study fashion design to challenge myself anew and expand my craftsmanship with artistic and design skills. Driven by new experiences, I like to look into other disciplines and seek inspiration from art, design and technology. My most recent experience has been in costume design, where I outfitted characters with clothing and accessories.
The Steiff Charity Project offers a new challenge for me through an interdisciplinary project work. I will be able to put my previous experience to good use in the design and realisation of the Alter Ego Teddy Bear.
I am happy to be part of this project and to contribute to charity for the support of children worldwide.
Johannes Bachor
I am Johannes, 22 years old and fashion design student in Pforzheim. Right now I‘m in my seventh term of my studies at DesignPF.
My interest in fashion is the cut and shape of high quality garments and their material and fabrics.
I see this charity project as a great opportunity for my personal work and my design development.
Personally, I‘m all about cooperation and connecting. Therefore I‘m really looking forward to work on this project.
The briefing and the idea
The Nico Rosberg Bear combines three central aspects: thinking and acting sustainably, doing better and being a positive change.
The design concept is based on the racing suit, combined with a sophisticated, high-quality business look. Additional accessories such as a cap, sunglasses or Formula 1 helmet allow different stylings for the bear.
By using sustainable fabrics, scraps or upcycled materials and 3D-printed accessories, the bear is designed to be environmentally and resource friendly.
The bear encourages to trust in one's own talents and passion and to take risks to achieve the "impossible". Furthermore, the bear inspires to use one's own gifts to transform the world into a better place and become a first part of positive change - just like Nico Rosberg does.
