Evelin Lerich
My name is Evelin, I am 22 years old and I´m studying fashion design at Pforzheim University. What i admire about fashion is the stories you can tell with clothes and the emotions you can express. What is most important to me is technological progress, sustainability and attention to detail.
My whole life I have been dealing with toys of all kinds and I have been collecting them passionately since I was very young, I guess that runs in the family.
Having also worked in a toy shop for a long time, I know what it means to make children happy with new toys. For me it is an absolute dream to be able to participate in this project and to be a part of designing something on a unique collectors plush toy, that is what I have always been wanting to do.
Ece Akbulut
Hi there! I am Ece, 22 years old . My interest in fashion began when i was a little girl and start drawing clothes for my dolls. What i love about fashion is to create clothes out of every topic and feeling i have or i am interested in in the moment.
I am very excited to be part of this
special project, not only because i am a fan of the Steiff teddy bears but i also loved to dress my toys with self-made clothes as a kid.
For me it is almost a nostalgic feeling and i am happy to start this project
and challenge myself.
The briefing and the idea
The inspiration for the bear’s look came from the famous data-driven Marchesa x IBM gown for the Met Gala „Manus x Machina” in 2016. The dress was embroidered with hand-made flowers and interactive LED-lights that changed colors based on the twitter comments about the event.
The designer’s intention was to combine the well-known Marchesa style with high-end-technology directly linked to social media: fashion as visual and social communication. Fashion in the age of tech nology celebrates not only exclusivity and individuality but also the opportunities of creating textile poetry, to shape the imaginary even dressing up ‘fairy-tales’.
With a poetic, ´sparkling‘ fusion of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship, the bear aims to enchant the eye - onto and into a high-tech world where wonder, creativity and imagination are more powerful than ever.
